Aftermarket HID gets very hot

I have just noticed that the whole haedlights gets not warm but hot to touch even after about 20min ride.*Previous owner installed the aftermarket kit and I just replaced the bulb. Maybe its been always this hot not sure.. but I've just noticed it.Does anyone here have the same issue? Or know if this is normal?Cheers

is it a 55 watt or 35watt? the 55watt gets hotter.

ebay auction (from chaina) says 35w. I have a weird feeling its not tho..
If they mistakenly sent me 55w, wld it get hot enough to melt / damage anything? Cheers

I had a 55 watt kit on my single headlight vmax & it didn't cause any damage or melting

i might trying making a little air vent at the back of the headlight and see what happens

HID is not any hotter than halogen, the headlight will handle it with no problem, I think you're just over worried. making a vent in the wrong place will introduce dirt in the headlight.
