What is the trick ti separate the headlight lens?

On a gen-1 how do you guys separate the lens from the headlight housing without damaging it? do you use silicon to reinstall ?

Very simple process. Go to any Harbor Freight and get their cheap Heat Gun. It's always on sale for ten bucks. Put some gloves on and just heat up the seal along the seam of the lens and housing. Move the gun frequently as to not melt anything. Once it's good and hot you can just pull the two parts away from each other. Do not remove any of the silicone from the housing. Once your done, reheat the two halves again real good and press them together and let cool. It will seal back together easily. If you want, you can apply some new black RTV sealant if you think it needs it. Very easy job.:cheers:
