Wanted: 1/2 Black Tank Bra 1st Gen FZ1

Hi everybody,

Looking for a black 1/2 tank bra for my 1st Gen FZ1. If someone has one in good condition that is just gathering dust, drop me a line.

Brett, Looks like you're not a newbe to motorcycles....

My current Gen 1 came with one and I still use it. They look nice and do protect from things like belt buckles and jacket zippers. What I don't like about them is the top edge picks up dirt and leaves micro scratches across the tank beneath the edge. The scratches occur when the bra moves when I get on or off. I try to keep it clean with clean rags and soap but haven't tried machine washing it.

I had great success with the clear tank slapper vinyl on my original Gen 1. I'm thinking of putting the tank slapper under the 1/2 bra to stop it getting worse. Belt and suspenders.



The argument against the vinyl is the clear plastic does weather over time but it's relatively cheap. Original bike. Probably second set of tank slapper vinyl pieces. That tank has over 250K in that pic.

Current bike. The scratches occur right under where it say YAMAHA and go from seam to seam. Not visible in pic

If your tank isn't in great shape the 1/2 bra is perfect solution. If it is perfect even lots of wax won't stop the scratches. In theory the white cloth backing on the 1/2 bra should prevent scratches and it does, till it gets dirty.
