Tire thickness

OK, I just had tires mounted up and I used my spare rear wheel for the new rear tire. After removing the wheel with the old used up Dunlop Roadsmart II, I decided to see hew much rubber was actually left. I cut open the old tire though the center. It revealed thicker rubber than I expected.

How thick is it? I broke out the calipers to see. ~5.2 mm. I think my Q2 rear when spent was WAY thinner.

It's nice to know that there is still about 2mm of rubber before the cords would be exposed.

Holy crap that is well used up!!
I cut an old rear several years ago. The bit in the middle was embarrassingly thinner than the sides :(

Stupid highway miles :(

When I was kid, we called these things "MayPops." Went 140 in a '59 Tri-Power Pontiac on a set of those back in the day. Not so much anymore.
