The Omega Project

Hello I am Loki and I am a motorcycle addict.

OK now that we have that out of the way I am going to be posting pics of my Fz1 genll going from the moderately neglected thing it was into the Crazy beast I know it can be. So far I have already swapped the exhaust slip on, I will gut the cat when I get the fuel controller, I took off the silly antenna mirrors, bar ends are safer and look cooler, and I have soooo much more planned. The new bars, bar ends, Grips, vinyl wrap and turn signals have all arrived but more needs to come first.

My goal with this thread is to have a record of the changes I make and to offer help to anyone that is thinking about doing the same.

Much love,
Loki

A note on the coffman shorty exhaust. I don't think it's too loud. It seems like a reasonable compromise on being a good increase in noise level without making it so that I feel bad warming the bike up in the morning. The deceleration sound is amazing and there is no way to get that across enough because it is pure ear orgasm. The rest of the Rev ranges sound very good as well. Final note is concerning a bunch of buzzing that was happening in the mid/lower Rev ranges. The bike plastics sounded like Annikens speed racer in star wars at 5k rpm and it was driving me insane. I was plotting double sided tape washers and rubber padding but it turns out putting on the coffman completely fixed it.

Much love,
Loki

Handle bars swapped!

New Grips, levers and I had to pull the mirrors off my old 919 so now I have my dream setup.

I pulled the clutch cable from its little cage on the triple tree and removed the holder of cable and such on the right side.

All in all I'm pretty happy with it. As always I wish aftermarket bar ends weighed more but I'm not paring more than 30for them.

OH I also included a Pic of the washers I used on the stock bar ends in order to be able to have bar end mirrors on the stock handle bars.

Much love,
Loki

The mirror block offs aren't perfect, scratches head, maybe I shouldn't buy them from wall mart? Anyways they work well enough and I will replace them if they get annoying but for now they are on. I also swapped out the turn signals for some with some running lights as well. Not very bright turn signals so I may end up adding bar end turn signals, I have them just laying around right now. I also installed the Wiseco fuel management unit. I was able to tune the low end to be a little more gentle for gentle roll ons and moved full throttle so that it takes a little less twisting to get to. I am going to have to increase the fueling at all levels when I do the air box and gut the cat but not yet. Any how enjoy the pics.

Much love,
Loki

Back from a 1500 mile road trip on Omega. Amazingly reliable and she handled the full saddle bags perfectly.

Today I modified the air box, replaced the tail light and swapped out the front sprocket.

The new sounds is amazing, the increase in pull when accelerating is noticeable and great. I think I still have a little tuning to do to get a little more power but overall the bike is fast as hell.

Now is just some aesthetic changes ans a new rear tire as the old one got chewed up on the trip.

Much love,
Loki

Pretty much done. Wow. The bike rides like an unrestricted beast. I have gotten a bunch of compliments on the color.

Vinyl wrapping is harder and slower than you would expect. This is especially true if your doing your best to not overstretch the material. Probably around 50 hours to wrap the bike. Thank God it's done.

I also swapped on a dark windscreen from ebay. So far it's perfect.

I still have a set of block off plates to put on but I think I am going to wait a bit.

Much love,
