A buddy and I met the wives for lunch about 35 miles east of Sacramento. Fun little foothills ride.

I tried some of your suggestions and stayed in 3rd and 4th at 6k for the hills and twists.

Wow, does this bike handle. I never got to 8k or above, but 60mph in 4th gave be SO MUCH CONTROL on and off the throttle or brakes.
 
Once you find the sweet spot you like for smooth on off throttle engine braking in the hills they fly. When you get used to the combo of engine braking and light braking it is like magic..lol

Get the flash and a PC and your throttle can be that same way in all the gears only smoother.
