Quality problems, anyone?

Hi,
A week ago I bought a new Fz1-N. Really happy with it until it started leaking oil! According to the garage people, there is small pore in the actual engine block where oil leaks out when you rev the engine. Yamaha are giving me a new bike of course.
Just wondering if this is a rare thing, or if anybody has had similar problems?

has to be super rare...never heard of such an animal out of Yamaha
i have almost 6k miles on mine and is is perfect, and a frickin animal:woot:

Think of porosity as a casting flaw. I've seen two instances over 20 years at the local dealer. I worked there full time for 6 years and part time for the last 19 years. Yamaha took care of both owners quickly.

It's a new one for me on the Yamaha, but I have seen that problem before, it was on my 2004 H-D Superglide. I'm sure it's pretty rare.

I did not know the HDs still leaked oil. I remember in the early 80s when AMF was part/making Harleys they leaked like crazy. Dumbest thing I ever heard of. They were supposed to leak.
