Pointers on removing and reinstalling tail on 2nd gen

Does anyone have any pointers on removing and reinstalling the tail? I did it and snapped a tab putting it back on. I'm eventually going to have to take it off to fix the tab, so I'll take some pointers. Thanks in advance.

Be more careful? Just kidding. I've never removed mine. Never had a reason. Why are you taking yours off?

I was pretty darn careful. I know the plastic is probably more brittle because of its age now. I took the tail off to install a givi top case rack.

Ah, that makes sense. Sorry you had trouble with it. Doesn't seem like anyone has any experience with it.
