Non linear power - mega jump at 7k RPM?

I've had gen1 for about 6 months now. Starts super easy, I can idle it well below 1000rpm if I want, 25k miles, etc.

The only odd thing about how the bike runs is the power curve - it seems very non-linear. There's great torque in the lower range, but when I take off in 1st gear, it just seems to really explode with power around 7500rpm. I've looked at some dyno charts and the hp curves seem pretty straight/linear in that area. This makes me think I'm missing power in the lower range and it's finally performing right at the upper end. Is this a sign my carb needs some adjustment? I'm confused because otherwise it seems to run just fine.

The bike is bone stock except for the obligatory Muzzy exhaust.

Any ideas? Similar experiences?

It's doing exactly what a GenI is supposed to do. Once you reach that 7K plus, hold onto your bars!! No matter what the dyno charts shows, that is normal running conditions from a first Gen FZ1.
