License expert?

Hi Guys, Just wondered if there were any interstate licensing experts out there.
I was looking at an alternative forum where someone implied quite confidently that a majistrate can only impose a suspention on a license in the state that the license is issued in and the state that the majistrate presides in. i.e. NSW license - NSW majistrate - NSW suspention?

Any information would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that is a generally false statement. The National Driver Licensing Scheme (NDLS) has been adopted by all Australian jurisdictions.
I am absolutely not a licensing expert. However this seems to generally answer NSW Frequently asked questions (FAQs) < Demerit points scheme < Penalties < Using roads < www.rta.nsw.gov.au
Up here in Canada, all provinces and territories have a reciprocal agreement in place regarding suspensions and/or convictions.
As a matter of fact, we also have an agreement with New York & Michigan Sates in the US. Sorry to bust into the local scene, but the topic caught my eye.
