Gen II Diagnostic Mode - Err 30

I had my tank off yesterday to fit some heated grips and associated wiring (coming into winter in Sydney).

When I went to use the bike, the check engine light stays on.

Following the excellent instructions here;

http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-tech/17481-gen-ii-diagnostic-mode.html

* At D61 the error code value 30 the first time - I waited but no other error codes came up.
* I went to d62 to clear the error, value = 1, but could see no change.
* returned to D61 and value is now 0.
* returned to d62 value is still 1.
* started bike and repeated. Check Engine light is still on.
* returned to D61 value is still 0.

What is error code 30? (I am thinking that maybe I didn't connect the air temp sensor).
Any idea why the Check Engine light is on, but d61 shows value 0?

Cheers,
Darryl

Look's like you have code 30 - Lean angle sensor (latch up detected)

I assume this is a tip over switch ??

02 - Atmospheric pressure Displays the atmospheric
03 - Intake air pressure Displays the cylinder-#1
05 - Intake air temperature Displays the intake air temperature.
06 - Coolant temperature Displays the coolant temperature.

Maybe some people use it as a tip over switch - for me, I guess when they designed the FZ1 they didn't expect for someone with my hektik skillz to be riding it. :bs2: :bs2:

Thanks for the list, I'll go through the diagnostic mode again this evening and check that there are no other codes, because I assume that the tip switch should clear and not return when I reset D62.

If not, any idea where the tip over switch would be located so I can check the connector...

Just to close this off -

I guess between the time I checked in the car park at work, and caught the lift 3 floors, I mixed up what error code I was reading...

I had a suspicion that I had done just that, and was confusing Value 20 with Value 30...

It was the connector on top of the airbox to the Temp Sensor... about a 30 minute fix...

Alas - seems my Stoner-esque riding was not the cause...

Still don't know why after I reset the codes, the light stayed on but no value showed up again in D61...

Thanks everyone for your input...

Cheers,
Darryl
