Exhaust

Definitely not me, Yoshi on the first bike Graves on the current bike, I like the sound of the Yoshi better but you can't beat the way the Graves looks

I have the stock one on my 2012 and like it. I get a lot of compliments about how quiet the bike is and I have all the performance that I need. As far as weight is concerned, it is a lot lower center of gravity than my 200 pound top heavy rider. It also saves $300 - 500 for other accessories.

Currently I have over 12,000 miles on it.

Must admit I like the quietness occasionally of the stocker but find my foot rests on it ,, but I love the look and growl of my remus power cone

Nothing irritates me more than a loud exhaust. I can appreciate a good-sounding vehicle, bike or car, but most of the time they are just irritating for everyone. I definitely understand wanting to replace an ugly stock exhaust like this hideous grain silo:

Nasty.

I'd certainly appreciate if everyone who put fart cans on their vehicles would put some bloody baffles in! ;)

Personally, I prefer induction noise over anything else. My VFR is whisper-quiet from the outside but on the bike it sounds fantastic

I've heard of these stock exhausts. Never ridden a bike with one for any length of time so can't really comment on the note they give. ;)

My foot rests on it too but not enough to warrant a $300+ purchase.

Besides, we're not riding HDs where they believe in the loudest pipes to say, "Hey, look at me, I'm a bad-a$$ biker".

I have always ditched the stock exhaust on all my bikes in favor of a nicer sounding exhaust note, however, I'm also NOT one of those Ricky Racers that sit at the stop light blipping the throttle to redline, nor do I come screaming up and down the streets. Even with the Two Brother's can I have now I cruise in first gear when I leave my house at 6am until I get to the highway. You CAN have an aftermarket exhaust and not be obnoxiously loud on the street if you know how to ride. I have and always will love the sound of a nicely tuned inline four purring down the road.

I will say though I chuckled at OldBiker's HD comment cause just yesterday I rode after work to the local Rite Aid to pick up my "old guy" pills, and when I got to the light in the right lane a HD Rider in his protective tank top and cereal bowl helmet pulled up to me in the left lane, lit up a cigarette, turned to me and nodded, and then revved the crap out of his Street Glide! I was laughing like hell in my Shoei! Too funny!

Since time immemorial guys kneejerk action is to automatically ditch the stock pipe for something that will 'unleash all the power in the engine', which usually means they have fallen for the 'louder means faster' phenomenon. I've seen too many bikes that have ill fitting, ill adjusted after market exhausts that make the bike run and sound like crap. And I'll bet there are more than a few FZ1's here with aftermarket exhausts that don't run as well as a stock engine. But everybody can do what they want. I ride with earplugs and the stock unit is fine for me, the sound is in line with what the bike is and when sailing around the curves at 70mph I have no issues with it. The engine runs fine, I get no whacky error codes, no stumbling issues, and you don't get the stinkeye while riding through town. The stock unit may be a little on the large side, but not extreme, it certainly doesn't intrude on my right foot while riding. I replaced the front guard and rear tip with a carbon fiber units which dresses it up a bit, and I got rid of the passenger pegs/hanger because I don't ever ride with a passenger. That alone cleans up the bike.. A stock FZ1 has more than enough power for me.

Many true words spoken there !! And your bike looks great

Lmao aww how cute going to pick up your viagra on your FZ1!

On a serious note, I took the baffle out of my Micron and love it... It's stupid loud over 5k but I wear ear plugs anyways. But I'm respectful with how I ride it in neighborhoods and whatnot.

You mean Blue, 2 Yellows, 1 Pink, and a White! It's like swallowing a rainbow every morning! Sucks when your mashed up against the fuel tank though!! :jaw drop:

I liked my two Bros carbon fiber slip on , I love my Graves full exaust, but the bike handled the best with the stock pipe on . Maybe because I'm tall with giant head and the weight of the pipe evens the bike out ??

Sounds like me. When I leave I ride in 1st or 2nd gear and keep the revs around 2k in the suburbs. Once out on the main roads I let her rip. The MicronGP is one sweet looking and sounding pipe.

I never considered going to a slip on but was a little disappointed with the mid range of the FZ1. With a little research, I came to the conclusion that a full Yoshi system might be good. One of the best things I did. Run it with the Db killer in and I really don't think its any noisier (or not much) than stock on light throttle settings. Big boost in the mid range where the law forces me to ride.
