Cylinder 1 and 4 Rich...2 and 3 lean WTF?

2006 FZ1-N...32,000kms.
Took the headers off as part of a job and noted that cylinders 1 and 4 were rich (black deposit) and cylinders 2 and 3 were lean (light grey deposit).
The bike seems to be running OK...although the idle fluctuates a little...not a lot but it is noticable (sits around 1100rpm).
The bike pulls quite strongly but theres still a sense that it wants to go a little harder...no hesitating or anything like that, just feels a little restricted in some way...maybe its just me??
The bike is fitted with a power commander 3 and was dynoed several years ago (152hp).
What the hell would cause the 2 outter cylinders to be rich and the 2 inner cylinders to be lean?
The weird thing is...the 2 rich cylinders are identical in colour, as are the 2 lean cylinders...like its been tuned that way deliberately?
Is this the PC3 trying to compensate for something??
Im not clued in with maps etc etc and dont understand how to go about altering the PC3's current settings...(IF thats whats actually causing this issue).
Anybody have any ideas on whats going on here?
