So, my girlfriend & I are planning a long trip across your great country (and mine!) and am looking for places to stay. If you live in or near:

Portland, ME
Syracuse, NY
Cleveland, OH
Chicago, IL
Dakota, MN
Chamberlain, SD
Gillette, WY
Livingston, MT
Spokane, WA

Let me know! We'd love to meet up!

WTF no California?

You must have family obligations in some of these cities, otherwise...WTH???
But I will suggest Bear Tooth Highway & Cheif Joseph Highway in Montana. Ya'll doing this on the bike?

It's a 10,000 mile trip over 35 days or so, I can't spend a lot of time deviating from the 'fast route'. I know some of the destinations aren't great but unfortunately Canada is a big country and the majority of the trip is spent crossing it.

We've always wanted to see my whole country coast-to-coast so we're packing up our bikes and heading out in the summer.

I plan on seeing more sights & spending more time in other areas later on--California is the next destination, but crossing Canada is a long haul so I can't afford (literally) to spend time floating around.

Gas is expensive these days! :D

I have space and we're one hour ride from Portland, ME. Given the right day, I'd even escort you there and see you off. We have a spare bed if you give us notice. Locked garage for the bike(s) and plenty of tools if you need maintenance. I'll warm the grill. :D

You're missing some GREAT roads in the South-East Tennessee area... If I still lived in Chicago, I'd offer you a spot, but I'm in TN now...

That is absolutely fantastic! Thank you very much. Portland, ME isn't even a required stop, it was just a place I picked on Google Maps that was within the right distance for fuel.

This is great!

BTW, I know I'm missing out on a LOT of the USA; I know! I don't have the time or money during this trip but I am most definitely going to see more of your beautiful country in years to come. This trip is all about going across MY country of Canada and I thought it would be nice to make the return trip through the USA. :)

Hey honey? A random stranger that posted on my favorite website, and his girlfriend, are gonna stay in the guestroom tonite. OKAY? BONK(frying pan connects with already damaged cranium)

Maybe we can start our own network of "Welcome Mats" and create a list of people who have space and can share it for a night. I've done it a few times and have never been let down with the riders who have shown up. And no OldDuffer, she's not like that, lol!!!! She's just as welcoming as I am.

Where could/should a list like that be kept? I'm thinking that those who DO wish to participate can step out to the end of their driveway with their GPS and note the coordinates. We make a list with names and at least an email address... then when people travel, make arrangements with list members for stops to and/or from. Thoughts? Pros? Cons?
