Back on an FZ1, This Time It's a Gen1!

I think I just scored the cleanest 2002 Gen1 FZ1 on the planet. OK, maybe I'm exaggerating, but this baby is CLEAN! It only has 13,100 miles on it and was always covered in the garage when not ridden...

And bonus, it has an Ohlins 3-way shock, steel braided Galfer brake lines, new Michelin Road 5/6 tires, gold DID chain, sprockets, brake pads...

It was owned by a gentleman who had several other bikes, so the miles didn't rack up on it. I am so stoked right now, I've always wanted a Gen 1 and they are getting hard to find in good condition with low miles...

That looks like an excellent find. Very clean, nearly original.
Was the man you bought from the original owner? He obviously took good care of it. Hopefully, that included only using non-ethanol fuel and garaging it with stabilizer in the tank between rides.
If not, time to pull the carbs and give them some attention.

What an amazing find! Looks incredible.

I too picked up a young Gen I recently, 2004 FZ1 with 2600 miles on it! It was ridden for a year and stored under a cover for 20 years. The plastic pieces all look incredible but all the metal fasteners have some mild surface corrosion. Yours looks much better, and that shock is a really nice bonus!
