I noticed Facebook Groups exist for many subjects equivalent to long standing forum sites. I tried that route for one of my old cars, however it's horribly dumbed down. For every one useful discussion from knowledgeable people there are dozens of nonsense crap posts or questions from people too lazy to search and read.

I joined this site because I find better info faster via forums using search engines that I can ever find via Facebook. You'll definitely find that some forum sites also have a lot of "take it to the dealer" and blatantly wrong information. But at least this way the novel things we discover and problems we solved can be documented for the future.
