Thanks NHFZ1, I've ordered from ColorRite.
FYI, (for anyone with Cobalt Blue), there is a base color plus top color, so you need both to match. I also got primer and the kit. The whole shebang is almost $90 shipped (as of Sept. '14), but it does seem like a complete kit for fixes, and...
Vandals struck my garage last night, kicking in a window that was right over my new FZ1. There are scratches down to bare metal on my tank and fairing now. So I was wondering...what is the best source of touch-up paint for Cobalt Blue Yammie? Should I go with the dealer, or are there better options?
Has anyone tried the Bell RS-1? That one seems like a great value as well, even after buying that variable tint shield. I'm not sure if it would fit my head, though. My old HJC is about perfect, so I guess I'm a "round head". This Bell is for the oval headed, apparently.

"Aside from the safety factor I've also found that big bikes early on can lead riders to become lazy."
That's a good point. Also, any bike that's initially intimidating to ride is not a good learning tool. I would almost recommend my Gen 2 as a 1st due to the commanding view/ergos and the...
Thanks, guys, so far no leaks or complaints. I did fill a bit higher in the window (the storied "bubble"); don't know if that's just a Gen 1 thing. I'll check my airbox for any nasty blow-by. That's an interesting thing about the KN 303s, NJFZ1 -- there is certainly a lot of room before hitting...
Hi, all, I'm doing my usual overly-anal break-in procedure, with oil changes at 100,600, 1000 miles. A couple of quick questions:
Is it usual for the Yam 5GH-134440-20 filters to come without plastic over the open end? I bought some online (yeah) and they are genuine Made in Japan Denso and...
Have you seen this new HJC model, the RPHA ST?

It has the pinlock feature (with pinlock anti-fog insert included), the built in flip down sun visor, but is more advanced in construction. Still under $400.
Seems with the cheaper HJC, they are either sun...
My old HJC is about the most comfortable I've had -- and I've spent a lot more for a helmet. I was thinking of getting this IS-17 model with the built in sun visor:

"Should it turn over with the side stand down?"
I'll check on mine today. It's new to me, so I'm not 100% sure. It certainly does cut off the ignition, though, and would do so regardless of whether the stand were up or down if the switch were damaged in certain ways.
EDIT: Yes, it will turn...
I upshift without the clutch all the time, under moderate acceleration, once in second. But I use the clutch when downshifting (still breaking it in). I really depends how you ride, and your "ear."
If you moved the vibes to 5500 then you may well be in the right area, the source. I'm curious about the naked conversion bikes (no fairing), or bikes with larger windscreens. What happens to the vibrations on those bikes?
That's very strange then, that mine doesn't have that problem. It's a '13, bone stock and brand new.
My 919 always had a bad spot around 5,000, which made freeway riding unpleasant at times. Today I rode the FZ1 on the freeway for an hour --steady at speeds between 5-5.5k -- looking for the...
