Im glad that the damage isn't any worse than it is, and that you are ok. Even with tires made for the track, if you overcook a corner and find yourself out in the marbles, there is a good chance you will be going down anyway, regardless of tire selection. Good news that you were able to learn a...
Alright VA Rider. You were right
I filled the oil and left just a small air bubble at the top of the sight glass and went on a 150 mile ride and the light never came on, and everything looks good now.
Lesson learned. The high and low marks on the sight glass don't mean a thing.
Thanks again...
Thanks for the tip VA. My oil level is actually at the halfway point right now. I figured that was a safe place to be, but now that I think about it, I usually kept that level at the 3/4 mark or above and have never had that light come on before.
I will top it off and hopefully my problem will...
Hello all
The low oil warning light started coming on during my last ride. Once I noticed it was on, I slowed down, and shortly thereafter it went off. A few miles later it came back on, and it did this a few times before I stopped to check the oil level.
The oil level was correct, so I took...
Im still searching for the right road for a wide open run.... Gonna verify speed with the gps. Until then..... Im staying in the twisties and watchin out for the deer.
Here is my Gen1. Got a great deal and really haven't done much yet besides led turn signals and getting rid of the rear fender. Waiting for it to get cold and rainy and then im gonna tear into it. I am learning a ton from this site!!
No comparison.... R6 all the way. Even at a track like Willow Springs in California... "The Fastest Road in the West", AMA Champion Rich Oliver, used to destroy the field on a TZ250, in a class that had no restrictions on modifications. He would get left in the dust by the unlimited 1000cc...
Shoot!!!!
I changed the oil on my FZ1 for the first time last night.
Why didn't i think of leaning it over on the side to drain it thoroughly??
Oh well, next time, it will get done right!
I ride a similar road to that in California, one lane and really twisty.... Lots of fun, but no way am i gonna use the whole road like that without spotters on either end stopping the traffic. That was asking for trouble long before he lost the rear end!
Ouch!
I just bought a pair of Fieldsheer Mercury pants and love them. They could use a little more venting for the summer time riding, but all in all, they seem very functional. I am anxious to zip in the liner, and see how they feel when the cold weather comes. For quick trips, I wear Dickies work...
I have had my bike fall over in a parking lot once... So embarrasing. That is a good point about using the center stand in your garage only! It would still suck, but at least there won't be anybody snickering at you! lol ;-)
I used to roadrace an R6, and had a great time pushing my limits on the track. My track days are behind me now, and I am riding an FZ1, and although it doesn't have the sportbike handling, the power is awesome, and kind of addictive. It pulls really hard in comparison to my 01 R6.
You will be...
Thanks for the advice
It is definately wear from highway commuting... I looked closely at the tire to make sure that it wasn't the victim of the "burnout guy". The only thing I didn't check was tread depth, and I will look for at least 3/32" now.
I rode the bike last night and it felt fine...
This is my first post, and I just bought my 02 FZ1 yesterday. I am an experienced rider, but since I live in the mountains, I have never had a tire develop the flat spot down the center from extended miles on the highway. I bought this bike with obvious flat wear down the center, and I am...
