as soon as i get in 3rd terrible clanking goes away when i pyll in the clutch or shift up or down????

only in 3rd gear stops when pulling in the clutch doesn't pop out of gear no noise in any other gear? HELP

when i get in 3rd gear it clanks terribly pulling in the clutch stops the clanking it doesn't pop out of gear and as soon as i get into 4th or backed to 2nd no clanking? ideas
