Its by the front sprocket cover. Its a white plug with three wires in it.

The valves sound a little loud but other than that it sounds good. My bike has 37k on it and the valve cover has never been off. My 01 sounds quieter than that but my exhaust is louder tho so that may be it.

Pull the carbs and clean them. My 01 sat for 4 years and needed the carbs cleaned bad.

3k miles on the front and 1500-2k miles on the rear. My 01 is at 38 front 34 rear right now I ran my 06 fz1 at 34/32 rode it a lot harder. My zx14 is at 44/25 for dragracing and 38/34 on the steets 34/32 if im riding hard.

Front 34 Rear 32 Tried higher but bike was all over the place the roads around here are crap so I ran lower pressures to get some grip

Front tire balanced? Forks in good shape? Head stem bearings good and tight?

Dusted it off and rode 120 miles. Took the brakes apart and cleaned them up while I was at it I cleaned the chain and pulled the wheel bearings and regressed them rolls much better now. Pulled the carbs again for the 1000th time and tinkerd with them trying to get the fueling perfect.

The 01 just hit 40k and the motor has yet to be opened up. Maybe that's why it don't run right anymore. It is a spare bike so we don't do anything to it unless we have to. This bike has had nitrous ran though it several times and she just keeps on going.

Look normal a little on the rich side for me tho.

Apples to oranges The zx14r made 214hp with the stock filter and a full system your Fz1 will not make that kind of power without nitrous or a turbo. Get a filter open up the airbox and a slip-on and a tune the bike will be at 145+hp at the wheel.

Put new grips on it. Cut the spark plug wires. Wiped the dirt off and rode 140 miles.

When I done it I took some material off the shift rod that goes though the frame. Been like that for 9 years no problems.

I pulled the carbs and cleaned them after 4 years of use. I have been riding it with dirty carbs and the clutch has held fine. I ride it after I cleaned the carbs and now its pulling though the clutch so I need to find a clutch to put in it.

Find you some VP Racing fuel called MR12 and get your bike tuned for it you will see 155+ with it on the dyno. Put the stock gearing on the bike it's good for 176ish without good fuel or nitrous the bike will never see that speed my 06 ran 178mph with stock gearing and a 50hp shot of nitrous...

Got a yosh on mine has lasted 10 years now no proplems with it.
