2010 FZ1-N ABS refuses to start after checking valve clearance. I'm stumped.

Was the valve timing touched in any way? CCT loosened or removed? You may be off a tooth on one or both of your cam sprockets. Another thing to check is #3 and #4 coil wires, they can be installed backwards the wires will fit. Don't ask me how I know LOL

    Throttle bodies syncing procedure

Follow the manual, there is a reason they say not to touch the screw in the middle, the one that has white paint on it. Only use the brass screws for the sync. 1&2 throttle plates are on a common shaft, 3&4 are also on a common shaft. They are synced from the factory so that the 2 shafts are...

Your opinion on how my FZ1-N is running

Clean your TBs while your at it, mainly around the throttle plates and idle bypass. I always clean them prior to the sync, normally find they need very little adjustment after a clean.

ECU REFLASH - Bauce Racing vs Vcylenut ?

Vcyclenut is also highly recommended on many forums. The reason I suggested Ivan is he has been tuning the FZ1 from the first generation on and has spent many hours perfecting his tune, especially with mods. If your bike is stock then I would say its not worth the extra $150, but if it has been...

ECU REFLASH - Bauce Racing vs Vcylenut ?

They all do pretty much the same thing unless you have other mods, airbox, exhaust. Mine is stock and flashed by a company here in Canada. Most use the flashtune software Very happy with the results, throttle snatch is gone, engine braking reduced, no more fuel cut, factory restrictions removed...

Fuel Cut / Throttle Snatch: Why?

The IMAP (AKA speed density) method needs a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor to work . This bike does not have one, or a intake manifold for that matter. Not sure what this "tuner" is talking about. MAP- and MAF-Based Air/Fuel Flow Calculator (lightner.net)

Engine Rotor - Why has Yamaha not issued a recall?

Yamaha is not going to do anything about this issue unless forced to do so via a lawsuit. Many, including myself have replaced the rotor with the upgraded one as “preventative maintenance” others ride more and worry less. This subject has been discussed at great length on several forums and...

    Cam chain tensioner

The OEM tensioner uses a ratchet type system to adjust the chain. As the chain/guides wear it ratchets outward to take up the slack in the chain, even with no oil pressure it will keep the slack out of the chain until the engine builds oil pressure. I would pull the old one out and see if its...

    Newb with Exhaust Question

I never checked mine but the exhaust tone changes around 5-6K I assume that's the exup valve opening. Was the servo under the seat removed/disconnected by the previous owner? Does the valve move freely by hand with the cables disconnected? Do the cables move freely? From what I have gathered...

    Flash tune

There is also a place in Vancouver that will do it for $250, Way less than sending it to the states with the difference in exchange rate, shipping, customs ect. I was thinking why not add another $250 ($500 for the flash kit) then I could make changes on my own without removing the ECU and...

    Flash tune

Has anyone flashed their own ECU using the kit from Flash-tune? I am thinking about buying the kit and doing it myself but would like to talk to someone who has done it. My bike is a 2010 FZ1 and is stock, intake and exhaust and all I want to do is remove the restrictions, fix the speedo error...

    Newb with Exhaust Question

I also just bought FZ1, its a 2010 with very low km, 4200. I like the stock exhaust, it looks OK and is nice and quite with a low rumble. I put a yoshi exhaust on my previous bike, a FZ8, and after a year put the stock back on, it was hideously ugly but I couldn't stand the loudness of the yoshi...
