Slow decline to an ultimate death

Glad you got it sorted. It sounds like the previous owner blocked the AIS without doing the PCV install and O2 sensor removal or ECU flash.

    new to the fz1 fam

Welcome, there are lots of things you can do to improve the bike. The stock suspension is ordinary, a lot of guys get an R1 rear shock and an adapter from Satan on the other FZ1 forum and replace the front springs and valver or buy R1 forks to improve this. Ivan and others do a ECU flash...

    Adelaide Suspension

Suspension really does transform this bike. Now that the weather is finally warming up again, it's prefect timing. I'm in the need for some new tread soon. I think I'll get a few more weekend warrior rides out of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III but they are well into the wear bars now.

    FZ1S In OZ

Welcome aboard from a fellow Aussie! You have chosen a great bike for touring. you can also drop the luggage in the shed and have some fun on the weekends in the twisties as well! Interesting background. Did you ever get a sidecar? I have one I use to pick my daughter up from school in...

    no spark on cylinder 3

Could also be a bad connector or wire. Do you have someone local who you can swap ECUs with to test that before you spend money to find out that isn't what it is?

How to attach loose FZ1 exhaust connector gasket?

Doing that transforms the bike, it is incredible the difference a flash and tune makes!!!

How to attach loose FZ1 exhaust connector gasket?

I have a set, but I am a long way from you and shipping would make it not worth while. I did a quick Ebay search. Second hand sets are around 150 - 180 dollars. Aftermarket are around 850. FYI, the arrow headers will fit any aftermarket can that fits the stock headers. so if you have an...

FZ1 Riders Show us your baby!!

Nice ride, there's lots that can be done to this bike in the way of mods. Have a look at my signature for a few of them. You wouldn't be an Aussie living in London would you? Adding an O to to shorten a word (Diffo) is definitely an Aussie thing! Enjoy the bike!

How to attach loose FZ1 exhaust connector gasket?

I've never seen that before! might need a few tack welds? You could probably pick up a good used set cheap as many riders have switched out to aftermarket headers and have the old ones lying around.

    Air Filters - K&N - DNA - BMC

When I installed my K&N a few years ago there were fitment issues, I sent it back and got a BMC, no issues what so ever.

    Fluid leaking from radiator cap

Did you follow this? https://www.manualslib.com/manual/804564/Yamaha-Fz1-N.html?page=140 also is there muck around the cap? make sure it is clean and seals well.

    Battery or ?????

Sounds like a dead battery, I'd also make sure those accessories aren't plugged directly into the battery and only come on when the bike is turned on.

    Stock Rear Shock Colors?

My 2010 had a red spring as stock

    Fluid leaking from radiator cap

Did you make sure there was no air trapped in the system? if there is air in there, it will exp[and when it heats up and force the coolant to escape through the overflow. squeeze the radiator lines and they should be firm, if they are squishy, you have air in there.

New to forum, new to my FZ1 and a little disappointed.....

The ECU has restrictions on the first few gears, and the stock fueling isn't that good. Get it flashed and tuned and it is a whole new bike. The stock suspension isn't that good either, most will upgrade that too. Going larger on the rear sprocket is better in the long run if you can...

    List your mods..

Some of my list is in my signature. I have a thread on here somewhere with the list and pics.

Slow decline to an ultimate death

It sounds like you have a short somewhere that is only activated while you are riding. I'd start by checking all the wires and plugs to see if you have a bad one somewhere that was missed with the standing inspection. I'd start by checking the ones around the headstem for wear. Also check...

    Rearsets

I have the Rizoma rearsets with the B pro pegs. Pricey but worth every penny, zero issues in the many years of owning them.
