    Monitor Wi-Fi usage

I have an old Buffalo TeraStation and a Buffalo LinkTheater DVD player. They work really well together - the LinkTheater automatically knew about the TeraStation and presents it as a menu choice when I access the DVD/Media Streaming menu. I can play anything off the TeraStation that the...

What did you do to your FZ today?

Yes, but you can always hold out hope that we'll get one of those freak warm-ups! I managed a few miles when the temp rose above freezing on Saturday. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    Plastic Rivets

I did a little searching for the plastic rivets that hold some of the plastic parts together, and found them on an OEM fiche (Part 64 in the attached). They're not terribly expensive ($1.64 each), but I only need one, so I'd get killed on shipping. I'll buy a few extra if I have to make an...

    Monitor Wi-Fi usage

Yes. I use a NAS for that purpose. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    Monitor Wi-Fi usage

Since you have a couple of "spare" PC's you could set up some NAS (Network Area Storage). There are Free operating systems that would do the trick for you. Start here: FreeNAS Project - Open Source Storage - FreeNAS Project

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

I tried that a couple of times, but couldn't figure out how to get the tabs on the bottom of the tail section past the brackets when installing from the rear end. I was following this old video from Hail: Re-install Rear Tail Section on 2009 FZ1 - YouTube Important thing is that the bags are...

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

Victory! Whew! That was a lot harder than I thought! Got the tail section back on, bags installed, and everything seems right with the world. I ended up removing four screws that hold the plastic to the metal frame of the tail fairing. That gave the plastic enough flex that I wasn't crapping...

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

Those are awesome pics. Helps to know that I've done things so far correctly. What did you do to electrify your bags? Is it just for running lights, turn signals, or do you have 12V in there? Here are some pictures of what's giving me trouble. Maybe they'll help. It just seems like I'm...

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

I think I know the cut-outs that you are talking about. Nice of Yamaha to pre-mark the lower plate with the exact cuts to make. My rotary tool and a barrel sanding attachment made quick work of removing the plastic.

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

Ok. I'm just terrified of cracking the plastics. It's good to know that there's no more cutting that needs to be done or anything. I brought the tail piece in the house to warm it up a little bit. I'm working in a heated area, but that only means about 50F. It's a few degrees warmer inside...

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

Yes, I think that they're the Givi racks. I got the cut out on the under-tail managed just fine with a rotary tool and a small sanding barrel. It's reinstalling the "tail fairing" that I can't seem to manage. The plastic that wraps around the sides of the tail doesn't seem to offer enough flex...

Post your on board cam videos!

I'd say you would probably be fine at the track. Listen to what the instructors say, and don't be in a rush to get through the beginner group too fast. There are a lot of things to learn that go beyond just handling your bike. When I finished my (first) track day last season and reviewed some of...

    2013 Xmas Gift Thread

I got a set of used Givi side bags (and the associated horror story that goes with mounting them), but the best motorcycle-related gift went to my nine-year-old son, who has officially been authorized to go riding next year! We celebrated by getting him his first helmet, which he fell asleep...

Reinstall Tail after Mounting Givi Racks

I got a set of GIVI side bags and the associated hardware for the FZ1 as a Christmas present. They're used, but everything was included, and I was able to get all the hardware attached to the bike with a little work. When I went to reinstall the tail section, it doesn't seem to clear the new...

    Site Problems... Upgrade poll

Looks like the current version of vbulletin is 5.0.5, and there is a clear upgrade path from 3.8. Any thought to skipping the version 4 release and going straight to the 5.x stream?

What did you do to your FZ today?

Not really to my FZ1 specifically, but I got a good deal on a lot of face shields at a local auction. I knew several of the shields would fit my helmet (Shoei Qwest), but much to my surprise there was a brand-new Pinlock visor in the bunch. I broke down and bought an insert over the weekend and...

    fz1 sucks for touring....

I did 3000 miles in six days on a fully stock setup and my rear was a little sore. I attribute that mostly to the fact that two days was in the rain, and my rain pants weren't quite up to the challenge. I've done 600+ mile days without any problems or soreness. I have a couple of long trips...
