    stock can / slip on

without tuning to compensate for the changes, no mod is worth a penny for performance. so, you are correct, it runs better stock than it does with the slip on, which actually will make it perform worse than stock without tuning to accommodate the change.

Buy a new motor or rebuild this one?

Unless you feel competent in your mechanical skills, first time rebuilding a tranny is a biiiiiitch and if you do one thing wrong, you can blow it up all over again. forget one snap ring, or put it on the wrong side of one gear for example... anyway, new to you engine would be the ideal...

Michelin Pilot Road 4 on track

PR4 track review: They will stick, and then get slippery because they're overheated so you end up adding a lotta air to keep the tire cooled off. The rounded profile isn't ideal for cornering/lines, especially quick change of direction, it's a rounded tire and doesn't like to hold a line too...

    Headlight tape for track days

Tape is to disable the lights, not because of crashing with plastic pieces. Glass, yes, that's for safety reasons. However very few bikes have actual glass on them nowadays. I am too lazy to pull my fuses, so i tape over them. it can be a distraction to those on track. also, brake lights mainly...
