Where are the FZ1 Girls ?

Hoping against all hope that rides will occur today. Ended up having to buy a new battery for the FZ1 (didn't get it on the trickle charger soon enough:frown:) and had to get an oil leak fixed in the V* but we've got two bikes running, and NO RAIN with a forcast of 50 degrees. I hope I will...

New FZ6 owner already considering trade

Gotta love jumping on a topic that is, shall we say, dated. But, regardless of the particular poster, this is a good issue for discussion. I suspect the reason you see a lot of FZ6's for sale and not as many FZ1's is the same reason you see a lot of V-Star 650's for sale and very few V-Star...

Should I go pre 2006 or post?

The technology of the Gen II machines is superior to the Gen I. Having said that, I much prefer the relaxed position and extended fuel capacity of the Gen I. I would dearly love to do a side by side comparison, but I don't think the other half will go for that.:shame:

    I was STUPID

I have a V Star 1300 that I have ridden for several years; just bought the FZ1. The V* is a lot heavier, and harder to push around; that said, I also have the fraidy cat gene, and don't think I will ever ride the FZ1 to its full potential. I am blessed to be able to fit both in my garage!

    Waaayyyyy better......

I agree, that is a sweet deal on a sweet bike! And so far (at least for me) there is FZ1 and V-Star harmony in my garage!

    Cold weather spin

It was 55 degrees, dry and windy yesterday. Got a 70 mile local ride in, pulling into the garage just as it got dark. YAY!

    Another bike ruined

That is ugly, and a sin to do that to a beautiful bike!

    Cold weather spin

Good on you guys for getting out. I've got OK temps (high 40's) but way too many wet leaves and pine needles to contend with. Once the leaves fall, I'll be fine, but that stuff is just too slick for me. I will be giving a concert on Veteran's Day with my community band (and not riding the...

    Gen 3 FZ1

I think the FZ1 is a Jack of all trades, master of fun kind of bike. I've ridden long distances and on some twisty roads on my cruiser (V star 1300 T, if you're curious) coming away with the solid feeling that I have ridden many twisty miles on a cruiser. I like the handling, riding position...

    Snell '05 vs '10

That is my understanding as well; the '10 standards more accurately reflect the types of impacts that occur in crashes as opposed to measuring the ability to withstand a certain amount of direct, oppositional force.

    What we need

So, I am plotting and planning a route in Oregon that will include basing at Union Creek Lodge (23 miles outside of Crater Lake Nat'l Park) and include at least two days of round-trip adventures that will make for 8+ hour days in the saddle. One day will be a Crater Lake day--not any mileage...

    Rider to Rider Communication

Motocom has a good system based on FRS radios and come with both vox and ptt. As long as all folks are on the same freq, they work well with any number of radios. Motocom is also a good company to deal with; parts come quick when you, er, break them.:o
