+1. No sense replacing tires just because. Have a look at the date stamp (though it may not tell much.. they may have been 2 years old before they ever got put on, and still counted as new at that point). Have a close look at the rubber itself, particularly in the grooves.. if you don't see any...

Good point. It would only rule out engine/rpm induced wobble.

One way to rule out drivetrain issue: pull in the clutch and coast. If it's still shakes, it's the tires/bearings/balance. Of course no testing of your issue is ideal .. since the problem only presents itself at high speed.

Just want to throw this out there: I demo'd R1, last year. It was the first bike I've ridden since owning FZ1, which made FZ1 feel SLOW! Just stupid-fast.

I've ridden my 07 FZ1 for over 2 years now and also own a 05 R6. Now.. I can't come anywhere NEAR the pace of the rider in original video and I have yet to take my R6 to the track (just purchased it at the end of track riding season). My R6 is not street-legal, so I can't properly compare it to...

Nice! By the way.. I just did fork service on my R6.. no center stand. Rear stand + jack under header. Worked beautifully.

I've sat on FZ9 and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be a passenger on that bike. FZ1 is not bad for 2 up.. very little leg room for passenger, but the seat is comfortable and grab handles are very good. Between that and commuting (IF your commute is mostly hwy), FZ1 *should* be a better choice.

Why don't you tell us a bit about how the bike will be used? Marthy (forum member) owns FZ09 and loves it so far, but I don't think he owned Gen II FZ1. They're both great bikes, but my decision would be based on what I wanted the bike to do. Benefits of FZ1: wind protection, higher...

Just pulled the legs off R6 (in addition to loads of other work I've been doing on it). This is the most disassembled it's been in my hands so far... SO many bolts.. there will surely be leftovers when it all goes back together :shaking head:

It is possible that suspension was set up too soft? New for 2014 is the electronic suspension adjustment. One of the settings, is passenger+cargo.. I'm guessing it makes it seriously stiff in that one.

Not to mention it comes standard with 3-stage heated grips. I test-rode that bike and fell in love with it. Did not fall in love with the price though, reasonable as it may be.

Just one more thing to keep in mind.. not that you asked about financial aspects of switching to SS bike, BUT.. insurance will likely be 3x more than you're paying for FZ1.

Commuted all week by bike. Can't tell you how many times I've been asked "aren't you cold on the bike?" this week. Morning temps are in low 30's. (that's 1-3 c, for you folks with normal measuring systems).
