    My gen 1 project

That's a slick looking Indian Mike. How does that exhaust sound? It looks knarley!!!

    Mystery Shutdown

I understand what you're saying now. But at the same token, I don't see an electrical issue stopping the bike from being in gear or locking the shift mechanism. I will say that the cracked spark plug I had was literally brand new when it failed. Which is why I didn't check them until finally...

    Mystery Shutdown

I had a similar to this issue with my GenI when I had it a few years back. It wound up being a crack in the porcelain in one of the spark plugs which started arching against the cylinder head. It had practically the same symptoms as you are stating here. Just a thought.

    Fz1n seat unit

Not sure what you mean by "Split Seat". Do you mean separate passenger and driver seat? By the way, welcome to the forum. Billy.

    bought a clean 07 fz1

For me, a stock bike with just a slip on, and looking to wake it up a bunch, invest in a Power Commander and send your ECU out to be reflashed. You can send it to Ivan with a quick turn around time and only would need to install a higher flowing air filter, load a map which Ivan would supply you...

    Black Betty Continued...

Glad you're enjoying the heck out of her Jeff! Sick looking bike. I'm patiently waiting for Bogie's next ride.

JEFFKISTHENAME'S Build Thread - A Timeline of Growth

Jesus! I could have sworn that I posted here yesterday but it seems my post has vanished. Hey Jeff, nice job. How hard was it exactly to swap out the old one? I'm thinking that I should get this done before having any mishaps. Thanks.

What did you do to your FZ today?

Morning Jeff. Hey bud, on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being an easy job, what would you rate the replacement of the stator?? My 09' seems to be fine but I keep seeing posts here and on FB about them letting go so I might as well replace mine now instead of waiting for a mishap.

    New 2008 fz1

Nice purchase! I like that shade of gold on the wheels. That olive looking color they came out with in 09' was horrible. Good luck with the new ride!

    New membah in Brooklyn, NYC

Welcome Ari congrats on whatever bike you decide to get. Did the deal go through on the 02'?

Gen 1 rough idle, poor performance below 5k rpm, bad coils? Bad plug caps?

I don't see that it was checked for a kinked fuel line under the tank from raising and lowering it while wrenching. That was a common issue with the stuttering and fuel delivery issues. Just a thought.

2007 Yamaha FZ1 Check engine light

Run like the wind!!! Engine light from a shock replacement?? I think not. If that was the case there would be a whole lotta check engine lights on out there! Hahaha!

Non linear power - mega jump at 7k RPM?

It's doing exactly what a GenI is supposed to do. Once you reach that 7K plus, hold onto your bars!! No matter what the dyno charts shows, that is normal running conditions from a first Gen FZ1.

    04 FZ1 fairings

Unfortunately I don't even think the company that was making them originally exists anymore. Your best bet is to go on the FZ1 Facebook page and post that you are looking. There may be someone out there that is willing to part with the set. Just make sure that they have all the hardware and...

Miss at idle and low rpm

What year bike is it? Carbs or fuel injected?

Bike struggles to pull, wont go over 3000 rpm

I'm curious to know if you had the tank up when changing the clutch wire. Check and make sure your fuel line hasn't kinked as it is a common occurrence with the second Gen bikes.

    Carb rebuild

You can find Ivan's kit here..... Ivan's Performance Products The kit he sells makes a huge difference in rideability and smoothness. It's a worthwhile deal if you're planning on keeping the bike for a while.
