    Gen 1 to Gen 2

Very little has changed over the years with the GenII. As a result it makes little sense to buy a new(ish) one. In stock form the GenII is also far from what it really can be. I would suggest looking for a used one either stock (for the right price) or one with the proper mods already done...

Custom Dyno tune or Ivans full system

Also keep in mind that having your fueling adjusted on a dyno does nothing to address a number of shortcomings in the stock bikes programming. A dyno tune can't remove the deceleration fuel cut, can't adjust the opening rates of the secondary throttle plates and can't remove the lower gear...

    Arrow vs Yoshimura headers

Did you do your runs yet or is the day just getting started in OZ? The biggest difference that one would expect to see here is in the mid range. The Yosh should provide close to 10hp gain at around 7.5k rpm. Top RPM differences between the headers should be small with the other various...

    Ecunleashed flash

Zowne, Obviously from what you say, you can still feel fuel cut (without the fce) even after the flash. Ivan offered a quick easy test to see if the basics of the fuel cut system were still active. Here's what he said to do: "The easiest way to tell if fuel cut is disabled is to look at...

What are the true Dyno results

Zowne says "I run my own motorbike dyno tuning shop here in Adelaide, Australia. (www.JDRperformance.com.au) We can eliminate "dishonest operator" as I have never and would never fudge dyno results to get a different reading. I honestly don't see the point in it. I'm using a top of the line...

What are the true Dyno results

I still don't know where you are coming up with your numbers. Just about the max torque I have seen from a modern 1000c streetable supersport is right around 80ft/lbs. That is for tuned bikes with flashes and aftermarket exhausts. What 1000c bike inline four is making 95ftlbs of torque...

What are the true Dyno results

Not sure where you get your "down 20/30ftlb" numbers. Don't have a figure for a stock FZ1 torque output, but a full package one makes a bit over 75ftlbs. Most liter supersports make about that but at a bit higher RPM. A tuned and piped S1000RR will make closer to 80ftlbs but again at a higher...

    Ivan's FCE problem....

You should double check your install work. Make sure that all the wires are connecting to the correct place and make absolutely sure that your crimps are good. A quality tool, used properly will make crimps that look factory and that will give a reliable connection. Did you use a decent crimp...

    FlashTune

Just to clarify . . .FCE stands for "fuel cut eliminator" and it is an electronic add on device that Ivan's Performance makes and sells. It's primary job is to eliminate the deceleration fuel cut that on the GenII that results in snatchy on off throttle performance. . . .Flashes have the...

    Ceramic exhaust coatings

I can pretty much guarantee that the stock headers are not rusting though the OP's ceramic coating. The stock headers would take a very very long time to do so.

    holeshot header vs stanndard header

You say you fitted a super charger yet you haven't gone into any detail or shared any pics?? What the heck is wrong with you??:) How about sharing?

    holeshot header vs stanndard header

Not sure I understand you. If you are asking to see some dyno charts showing the gains of a the full Yosh compared to a slip on on the stock header with cat gutted, I have attached one of Ivan's to this thread. Looks like the biggest difference is up to 7K rather than at 7.5k as I said earlier...

    07 so many mods

Do yourself a favor and go to the other FZ1 site (FZ1OA) and read up on performance mods (particularly the Exhaust Carburetion and Performance section).

    holeshot header vs stanndard header

As mentioned the big gains from a quality header are not at the top end but in the mid range. Ivan's testings shows about a 10hp gain around 7.5k rpm for the Yosh full system compared to a slip on on a stock gutted header. Figure about 100hp at 7krpms compared to your buddy's bike which looks...

    riding engine water temps

Your temps seem normal. In case you are interested, Ivan's ECU flash will reduce operating temps noticeably.

    Tuning advice

Ok so it looks like from Sebass's dyno chart that the flash netted good results (as least as they can be seen on a dyno) with the profile and area under the curve being similar to charts I have seen with a Power Commander&good map, slip on exhaust, gutted cat, airbox mod, airfilter, fce etc...

    Tuning advice

Do you know what alterations (other than fueling which I presume was tweaked on the Dyno) were done to the ecu? Things like decel fuel cut elimination, power restricitions in 1st/ 2nd gear removal, ignition "curve" alterations, secondary throttle butterfly control etc etc...Did they do this from...
  18. E

    Tuning advice

Yes, we all seem to be saying that the best way to address the multifaceted performance issues with the stock bike (ignition parameters, deceleration fuel cut, secondary throttle plate opening characteristics, first and second gear power limitations etc) is through the ECU. Ivan's approach is...

    Tuning advice

Actually I think in the other "painful" thread you mention (which actually has more in depth info than anything you will find here) Ivan stopped his development for a while because the "other guy" was simultaneously working on a DIY flash product that might have put a hurting on his potential...

    2014 BMW S 1000 R Preview

Gotta wonder where you guys spend your time on the Fz1 forums if you haven't read about / realized that Yamaha really really corked up the Gen II in its stock form??? Combine an exhaust with 2 cats and an overly short header (in order to package the 2 cats) with power limiting secondary throttle...
