So what’s your position on 31/ATLAS…………An alien probe or just another comet? Hopefully, it’s only a comet Avi Loeb will go away till the next one.
I will try not to let that question open a Pandora's Box here... For me, the most likely conclusion is that it is a comet, and the interpretations of the observations so far indicate that the comet likely originated in another start system, possibly near Sagittarius. The primary constituents of nickel and CO2 are different than what we are used to seeing, but it does not appear to be much different in the big picture than other comets in our solar system.

With that said... Science is the never-ending search for the truth. We will never find that absolute truth, or if we find a few, we won't really know it for sure. The "Laws of Physics" are not absolute truths, but they are theories that have "stood the test of time." In other words, we've most likely been unable to figure out what is wrong with our theories for years and years, so we accept them as truth. Regardless, theories and laws are still just human interpretations of observations. That is REALLY all we have. The is no PROOF that the big bang theory is the truth. Humans just decided to run with that interpretation. We really don't KNOW anything. We can reproduce experiments and get the same observations, but are those experiments really showing us what we think they are showing? How would we know?

So... are comets really what we think they are? I would say we're probably close, but we don't KNOW that. Maybe Avi has a good point. The problem here is that we can't prove him wrong, since we really can't prove that we know the truth. I used to irritate the engineers I worked with, because they would throw stuff at me that they believed to be absolute fact. I would just ask "how do you know that?" There is a huge rabbit hole there just waiting for an engineer to jump into. It was fun!

I would say that 3I is a comet, based on what we believe is a comet. However, we cannot totally rule out Avi Loeb's hypotheses. The search for the truth continues... it's a fun game.
