Seat + Pain = New Please

I did an extensive search of the forums and figured i would look for the latest suggestions. I REALLY want a new seat. 210lb 5'11". I like to take day trips that can be anywhere from 3-10 hours. help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm 5'10" and 190 pounds. I find the stock seat very comfortable for long, 4 to 6 hours, rides. I come from riding road racing bicycles and the FZ1 seat is a comfy sofa compared to the bicycle seats on which I would spend 6 to 10 hours on for a 100 mile ride.

It's all a matter of perspective I guess.

How long till pain starts to hit?

I'm 5'10 175lbs and I found stock seat better than the Corbin. Overall, I was in pain from the fz1 after a longer ride. 4-6 hrs in my butt would go numb and I would have lower back pain. It was even worse wth the Corbin seat

Never had that on my R6 with a long 8-10hr day on the bike, and so far a 2hr ride ok the r1 and no complaints. I know I am not the norm and the fz1 is a comfy bike for most.

Its after about 1.5 hours.

I am much shorter and lighter at 5'6" and 160lbs. Both the Corbin and the Yamaha comfort seat were much better for me. There are a few places that will use your seat pan and make you custom seat foam and cover for a very reasonable amount.

on the other forum there is a guy, Dirt Road Eddie, he modifies the stock seat. I had mine done over the winter, upgraded foam and new seat covers. Much better now

That's about where I was also on the fz1.

My suggestions - the dirt road Eddie seat is HIGHLY recommended. I never tried it but a lot of people swear by it.

Also, have your suspension set up for you. It sounds dumb, but a well set up suspension makes a huge difference as well.

My wife and I both have the seats from France... 302 Found These are like a couch for long distance. If you do order, do a custom seat and get the LONG version. Search this site for Top Saddlery and you'll find a good amount of pictures, information and feedback. If you do want this, now is THE BEST TIME to get one because the Euro is very low VS the US dollar. Today is $1.36... when I bought mine, it was $1.92 so my seats cost me a lot more than what you'd pay.

Another Dirt Road fan here too. I had Eddie redo my seat and it's much better looking but more importantly, it's very comfortable for long rides.

I had my seat done over the winter and I just came back from a 4.5 hr ride.
It is so much better than stock.
The prices are really good as well.

I bought a used 2009 FZ1 a few months ago. The bike came with both the stock and a Sargent seat. I have tried both seats and I prefer the Sargent over the stock.
The Sargent seat is much firmer seat. I did not think the firmer seat was going to be more comfortable, but for me it is.

I also now have the top saddlery and love it compared to stock. I have road 1400 miles the past 3 days and my ass is still doing well. I would have been taking a double dose of current pain pills if I was riding the stock seat this trip. We will see how it does for the next 2500 miles over the next 10 days

For this reason is very important to choose a bike for your size and parameters.
It's an old thread, but you're right anyway. It is generally very difficult to do something when you have physical or moral pain. I personally have chronic pain and this is something super hard and at one time I thought I would never get rid of the pain and I would die without knowing what it is like to live without it. I was lucky that a doctor told me to try yoga and because of it my life has changed a lot. This site https://yogapractice.com/yoga/yoga-retreats-in-tulum helped me a lot and thanks to yoga my life is completely different.
