Hey everyone,
So as an update to this thread http://www.998cc.org/forum/fz1-general-discussion/14051-replaced-carb-joints-spark-plugs-wont-start.html; I gave up and took it to a shop last week. Talked to them today and he says I'm not getting any compression. He thinks the exaust valves are...
Whelp... Pulled the plugs gaped them (all slightly off), checked for spark (all spark), replaced them and still not starting. It did seem to be a little stronger in the attempts, but still backfiring.
I didn't explain myself properly. The wires are labeled 1-4 (not sure if factory of previous owner) and they run straight across the bike. Under the tank the wires run to two different starters (I'm guessing they are starters). The cables labeled 1 and 4 (which are on the two outside heads) go...
I'm rapping my head against a wall because Sunday is supposed to be in the 60's and I want to ride! :banghead: Right now I'm charging the battery (again) and I'll check for spark. I'll try to start it some more, hopefully its just bad fuel and needs to work its way out.
I'm assuming there is spark because of the backfiring. Even if one plug wasn't sparking properly wouldn't the other 3 be enough to get it to start? It would just idle messed up. I'm in West Milford, NJ; about 45mins from the GWB.
So I pulled the carbs again today and opened them and cleaned them. They looked pretty clean, but went through it anyway. Still won't start. I pulled the plugs and they all show slight discoloration from sparking (and getting back fires, so sparking). I even emptied the tank and drained the...
I didn't drain the float bowls... so now I'm gonna have to pull them back out and open them up? Something I was trying to avoid from the start... I am trying to start with the choke on.
I did put the spark plugs back in the right order, 1-4 left to right.
Hey everyone,
Once again I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction. I pulled my carbs out this winter (never opened them) so I could replace the carb joints. Took care of that and also replaced my spark plugs while I was at it. Now it won't start.
I've gotten a few backfires when...
Hey guys. I'm attempting to remove my carbs, which is a bit more technical then anything I've done before on any engine. Following the manual I've loosened the rings from the air filter and to the intake manifold. The next step says to "remove carburetors"... yea ok. I have no room to move them...
I'm going to sneak in a post here although I technically didn't do anything today. I just got started for the Christmas presents I'm going to be getting  I took the tail apart in preparation for the fender eliminator and integrated tail light I'll be getting. I'm also looking forward to...
