Your combat boots are duty specific, great for daily duty, but the riding boot will offer more impact resistance, than the basic LPC (Leathered Personnel Carriers). They may work well in a slide across the asphalt, but the smack down the Highside delivers will overwhelm the protection duty boots...

My Shoei RF 1000 TC sever. Light, and comfortable. I replaced the Scorpion EXO 1000 with it, and will never go back. Doesn't hurt that I got it at Cycle Gear on closeout for $169.00.
Congrats to your Son, and he must have pretty special tires on that bike. $500! I wonder how much they charged the original owner to "mount and balance", If you ask me, he got "Mounted" all right.
Lots of after market seats out there, won't know how comfortable till after you buy one, or try someone elses. I also have a local guy that builds custom seats. Check around your local bike shops, and see who people are using. Stock seat sucks, but how do you feel about the stock bike?
I just read this article, great write up, and I love the heated gloves. I think I'll install the grip heaters just for those days when It gets colder in the evening, and I've been caught with lighter gloves.
