    Cops "crack down"

The reason that none of you guys saw the cops on the weekend was because they were all in the Snowy mountains watching 3500 bikes carve up the roads on the annual Snowy Ride weekend. They were using a twin beam dopler radar (or some new electronic radar equipment) on the Khancoban loop and I...

    Suspension Clicker Settings

You sure your suspension settings are right?? I am around 225 without gear. I regularly ride with a pillion. I have an 06. I have the front preload set with 3 rings showing. Compression is set at 12 clicks and rebound at 14. The rear preload is set at position 3 for one up riding with...

PR2's Love the smell of fresh rubber in the morning

As far as the PR2s go, I got 12,000kms out of them without a problem. Now on my third set of tyres on this bike. The front will always wear out earlier on the FZ1 because of the front wheel weight bias. 90% of braking is also on the front wheel so you kind of have to expect it. But for...

    Ivans FCE

A mate has just picked up a 2011 Triumph Sprint GT with the 1050cc triple. These engines are "apparently" regarded as having one of the smoothest EFI systems compared to any other bike. To be honest, compared to an FCE'd FZ1, they are a shocker!! Think the FCE has spoilt me now in terms of...

    Hey Aussies...

Both Sydney and Melbourne have "large" Chintown areas. I have a mate from BC who has lived here in Sydney at Narrabeen Beach on what is called the Northern Beaches for many years and has been recently transferred back to the east coast of Canada for work and now can't adjust to the climate...

    GeII headers.

I have a stainless Yoshi TRC fitted on my 06. I was a bit worried about the noise aspect but couldn't deal with the factory bazooka for much longer. So I pulled the trigger, bought one here in OZ at a great price and fitted it. I have left the header cat in place and have left the...

Hey all you Aussies, what fuel do you use??

I think it is Caltex who distrutes 95 and 98 Vortex. The joke in all of this is that "Super" (which contained lead) was a 95 octane based fuel. It also retailed at the same price as "unleaded", which was a 91 octane fuel (until the government started to tax it to make us get rid of old cars)...

Hey all you Aussies, what fuel do you use??

Beware the ethanol!! In NSW the government has mandated that all 91 RON unleaded must eventually contain 10% ethanol increasing to 15% in a few years. It's getting harder to find non ethanol unleaded up where I live anyway. Yamaha warns not to use any ethanol fuels in the bike which pretty...

    Ivans FCE

You need to order the FCE direct from Ivan in the States. Just ring them, Gina will answer the phone, tell her what you want and it will be at your door in a couple of days. It is without doubt the best mod you can do to the 06 to fix the light switch fueling problem. I love it!! It makes...

    Yoshimura TRC and R77...

Scotty I fitted a stainless TRC on my 06. I run it with the baffle inserted. The can is 14" long. It is the same length as the stock can but weighs about two thirds lighter. Google Bike Gear Warehouse at Narellan in Sydney. You won't beat them on price...even importing direct. It looks...

    Another one bites the dust...

A lesson in riding with the correct gear We were out riding here last weekend. 4 of us on 3 bikes. My girlfriend hit some wet leaves at around 100km/h on a bend and lost the front end of the bike. The bike just went out from underneath her in a millisecond. The bike is a wreck!! She came...

Calling all Aussies, Where you from?

Missed this thread too!! I'm on Sydney's northern beaches with an 06 FZ1S that's heading towards 35,000 kms. Means it gets used for a lot of long distance trips. Sydney to Brisbane and back, Great Ocean Road, Tasmania and 4 trips to the Snowy Mountains to name just a few. Great bike!!
