What did you do to your FZ today?

fought with undertail to replace a burnt out running light on the brakes. If I did not get lucky with extraction, it was going to require undoing all the work I did installing the hardbags to get access to it.

Installed some frame sliders and quickly put the raised links on the bike to see how it felt b/c I did not have a wrench big enough to us the ride height adjusment on the Penske.

Have to play around with the shock settings to accomodate the new weight in the rear and looks like I finally have to gut it up and service forks....

misc cleaning/chain adjustment/oil change/reinstalled center stand/adjusted rearsets .....I'm ready for the open road!

I have Frank Thomas boots, but have had them for about 10 years and I don't remember what "model" they were. They are starting to lose there waterproof-ness but after 10 years who cares. I am seriously considering the Sidi Vertigos for next season. I definately got my moneys worth out of them so I expect you will to.

Well for the type of riding that you do you might be better off with the Sidi Way Rain Boots. I've been thinking about getting a pair those as well. They are about $100 cheaper than the Vertigos and not as flashy.

What I like about the Vertigos is the Achilles protection as well as the over-extention protection with the side brace hinges and better ankle protection. Most boots including the Alpinestars don't have the protection on the rear of the boot except the actual heel. I really like the articulated achilles protection, that like everything, you hope you never need. I can live with the extra $100 for that piece of mind. I ride an FZ, why would I worry about too flashy:laugh2: Of course mine isn't give me a ticket Red, like yours. ;)

Oldschool, the FT boots do have that! That's why I'm convinced it's such a good deal. Motorcycle closeouts had the AXO Primato on closeout in my size (38) for $99, but I went with the FT because of the better protection.

What I did today? Installed Joe's Guard:

and some gray (I wanted black but it was on closeout) windscreen trim:

(I can take bad pics with the best of them!)

Almost got wiped out on her today. Came up on two cagers who, after I pulled up to pass them, were apparently in a road-rage match and I just entered the arena! Well, They were too focused on each other to look for a bike and one swerved out just as I figured out what was going on. I dropped two gears and NAILED the throttle and took the breakdown lane to get WAY past them, then took the next exit and the slightly longer backroad home. Thank GOD for the power of the FZ1. Saved my bacon from a potential hospital visit. ;)

Thank God! We certainly can go without any more incidents for the remainder of this riding season. Glad you made it out okay!

Glad to here you avoided that! There really is no substitute for rider awareness. The Power to escape quickly helps to.:jaw drop::squid[1]:

Peeing down rain, so I grabbed my Healtech Speedo Healer I've had lying around for 12 months from my FZ6, and slapped that on. Stock sprockets, so it's not been at the top of my list of priorities, but it's done now. Time for a celebratory low carb choccy bar. Not quite the same as a :icon_beer:, but it'll do.

With a couple hours without rain tomorrow I might even get it calibrated:stunta]:.

I put on my spiffy new mount for my Droid. It is waterproof and has a cord hole for the charger, and only was like 15 dollars on ebay.

I fitted my new Stebel Compact horn. The standard one sounds like it's dying already and the bike's only a few months old!

Due to having the naked FZ1, it's a bit difficult to hide anything so the place it's in is the best I could find given the limited space to play with. I was wanting to fit an HID headlight kit for the winter but I don't think I'll be able to mount the ballast box anywhere.....but that's another thread!

Cruzman and I did the RavenRider Jet Kit on Baby. We also ported the boots, modded the lid, made sure the tps was set right, and re-synced the carbs.

At first everything was all good, but the closer I got to home I think I had a dead spot below 3k when taking off from a stop. I am tired though and i don't know if I wasn't getting off the clutch fast enough or if there is really a dead spot. Hopefully I can find out tomorrow.

Thank you Cruzman for giving me your Saturday. I'll have to make y'all some salsa and guacamole!

I washed it, waxed it, cleaned and lubed the chain, cleaned and oiled the air filter, polished the pipes, and adjusted and lubed the clutch. Tomorrow going for a FUN ride! :)
