SpeedoDRD install

BIG thanks to Eric (FZinNH) for informing me about their product. Ordered it Monday and had it by Thursday. Install was cake, and web site had all the info. It took longer to get under the gas tank than to install and program the unit.
I used their online calculator with the sprocket sizes for what to do.
Went for a ride today and a friend had his GPS for a speed check. At 45 it was spot on, may have read 1 or 2 mph high at 65 but no big deal.
Great product!

Is this the same as a speedohealer?. I installed 16t sprocket and rear stock 45t and run a 55 profile tyre and found my speedo was bang on, i figured the higher profile tyre cancelled out the small sprocket?

Yes it is a speed correction device but only $79.00 instead of the $114.00 for the speedhealer.
Glad your tire size worked, I wanted to be close for the odometer to be correct.

I'm still tempted to get one... I've been riding with different gearing for 20k+ miles... I'm sure I'm racking up the miles much faster than I should be....

and... I happen to have $90 just hanging out in PayPal.... but.. for some reason... I just can't bring myself to order it...

As the Nike ad says...Just Do It:poke:

And you can get it here for only $70 and I think that may include free shipping ;)

NJFZ1 , thanks......... It appears on your link that if you go there and then watch the utube video instructions, it's fairly easy, none the less, it's better figured out and set by a 'Teenager' ...lol, they are so adept, I know mine are, luckily thay havn't started calling me 'FOGHAT' yet...lol.

Yea, and at $70, it's one of those no brainers. Now I just got to get a chain sprocket set, and the 'candy' I want is from 'Super-Sprox'. It dosn't help being 'blond' either as I'm thinking of going one of two ways, either 16/43 or 16/47......go figure, but realistically I'm leaning towards the taller gearing for a cross country upcoming ride this summer.

I know it makes good sense... and there's no real reason not to get one... but... my brain says "You never look at the speedometer anyhow." and " It doesn't make the bike any faster or make it perform better" ...

Mileage racking up isn't a huge concern, as I never could sell this bike...
I need to do it... maybe this afternoon...

Doug, I forget... are you running a 16T sprocket? What was your final % of correction?

Glad it worked out for you! I'm still going to get one but the addition to the house is taking priority. :D

I'll have to ask for it for Father's Day. She'll be surprised because it doesn't cost much! Maybe I'll add in another item like an actual FE Kit. :D Graves?

House comes first plus I have a LARGE Copperdog order already out there... hard to justify spending anything on the bike right now without an occasion to tie it to.

After the CD stuff, the addition is going to take a little more than the remainder of my bonus. We're trying to do this without having to finance anything.

well, you and I both know, if you have the skill set and tools to do the job right.....DO IT!!

why pay someone else to mess it up when you'll just have to go back and fix it right anyways.....

try to be nice, and still got burned.....resume your normal topic discussion

Well, I did ask for it for Father's Day and I got it! :D Now I have to install it.

I've seen two different correction percentages here... -7.9% and -10.x% and both for a 16/45 setup on the GEN II. On the other site, I've seen -10.4% and -10.9%

When using the site calculator, what is the stock bike percentage you are using as the offset? Thus, at stock with the 17/45, what is the correction at that point? If I go by my GPS and using the 16/45 setup, the GPS indicates 55 MPH and the bike is hovering in the 66 MPH range.

Oh, stock tire sizes too.

It just seems that everyone has a different % to throw at this device. Setting it seems to be easy and install, as mentioned, looks cake. The rain is what TOTALLY sucks!

I too saw correction factors all over the place so it's probably best to use your own GPS to calculate it. BTW I ended up with a -10.3% for my bike, but my tires now have 7k miles so maybe with new tires it would vary slightly.

After pouting and surveying the damage of the off this afternoon, I took a few minutes to install the SpeedoDRD. Simple task to install and once you get the hange of setting it (third time was THE charm), well, it works great! I started out with the -10.3% that you suggested Tony. Mounted the GPS and headed out for a sustained 40 mph and 60 mph run. At an indicated 40, the GPS was reading 38. At an indicated 60 mph, the GPS was reading 57. So, I bumped the setting while in a store parking lot up (down?) to -10.9%. I took off for home and did my sustained 60 mph on the highway. GPS was holding at 59 mph. Indicated 40 mph and the GPS was at 40 with a flicker to 39 mph once in a while. I'm calling -10.9% to me my dead-on setting.

Good news is, there is nothing out of adjustment after the off and the bike drives straight and runs true.
