Going Copperdog!

copperdawg screen

Guess what? Ordered the copperdawg long a couple days ago. No cuts/gloss/candy red. Been happy with the yam long screen, but it started twitching odd at speed. So, I'll try the copper.

The tech guy said it takes 3/5 weeks to get it. So, don't be in a hurry. Just hope it doesn't do the same odd vibs as my current one. Only did it once, but it bugged me.

Scout, Where did you check out and order the copperdawg screen from? I'm looking for a screen for my FZ1 as well.

Mmmmm... Copperdawg Speed Screen in Cobalt Blue would be nice... But the $329 + minimum $80-100 freight to aust ($360+$110au) makes it a bit hard... Bloody Colony (aust) has to be half way round the world from you guys...

Kinda, but if I paid tax, that'll put me up about 360, more if I pay shipping, which I think I do (but no tax in my state). That's puts you not that high.

If not in a hurry, wait a couple months and I give some feedback on the copper compared to the Yam long one. I should say that I like the yam long until I had a funny vib from it that bugged me. Hasn't done it since.

He's got to be super busy and likely has a full "Inbox" at his email addresses. He said he'd invoice me for the whole order with shipping via PayPal 4 days ago but hasn't yet. I think I'll just PayPal him the agreed-upon price with shipping regardless of the invoice. I'm not faulting him for anything. In fact, I hope he is mad-at-work turning out the parts for everyone who's ordered! :D

It's got to be tough for him. This is spare time work and I think he's only got one other helper. Painting is dependent upon weather until he builds his proper paint booth.

I know it's going to be worth the wait so I'm going to not bother him at all, just wait for the package to show up one day.

Same here. I have heard barely a peep but I expected it to take a while. If I do not hear anything for another month I will be contacting him. Right now I am driving around without radiator covers. :)

I am considering ordering one of his screens. How long should I expect to wait?

Well, he told me 3/5 weeks, if I recall. But, looking at what the above riders said, looks a lot longer.

I now figuring I may see it in early summer.

He is about 3 - 5 weeks behind. It is well worth the wait though. Which screen would you get? Would you go with stock mirrors or get the screen with the blockoffs and use alternate mirrors?

I went with the med scallop, mirror cutouts to keep the stock mirrors and the gloss finish.

Just a reminder, these are not actually screens but solid fiberglass replacements. ;)

Yes I'm familiar with the screens. I've been debating which one to get, though. My biggest complaint with the stock screen/mirrors is the turbulence so I think I'm going to ditch the stock mirrors. I have a cheap pair of handle bar mounted mirrors on the way and if those don't pan out I'll try bar end mirrors. I really like the look of the scallop cut but I'm thinking that the normal cut may be more effective at smoothing out the wind.

Mirror position will do a fair amount for smoothing out the wind. I've been told that bar end mirrors make it really smooth but then riders complain about the lack of visibility.

The screens that he puts out do smooth out the wind but they don't do a lot to block the wind. I might be picking up a tall screen from either Yamaha or Puig for touring and swapping back and forth to suit the trip. :D

Well, I've officially ordered this stuff today from Copperdog. He actually has a pic of exactly what my bike will look like ('cept for the gold forks). Even the right seat cowl back there too!

Same here. Hopefully the fact that the website is down is not bad news for me. lol I already sent in my money! ...in January!

If memory serves me right the screens were about $260 - $270 range...
