I thought any 2000-2002 R1 Full Exhaust would work in place of a Gen1 FZ1 specific unit.

I have a full Yosh system on my Gen 1, but it is not for sale.

Check the Hindle site under Blow-out/Discontinued Exhaust Systems. They still offer high and low mount header systems at a discount.
Once you make that choice, then for addittional $ you have your choice of either a 14" or 18" long silencer, from all-stainless, to carbon cap, to Titanium, etc., in either Stealth (quiet) or Super Street packing material options.
Here's what my system looks like:
I had the stainless tubing ceramic coated black after I purchased the system from Hindle.

Any idea if a gen 2 can will fit a gen 1?

As long as the exhaust pipe exiting the EXUMP system matches the same size you can probably get one to work. But I do not know. I have only owned 2 GEN1 bikes.
